What's Happening at the Finca!
After our intense dry season (intense for this part of the world!) of 26 days straight without a drop of rain and lots of hot sunshine, our coffee bushes were starting to look a little wilted and stressed from the lack of water. This is not a bad thing, though, because eleven days after our first rain on May 6, we had a massive flowering!
So many white flowers make the farm appear snow-covered! They are very sweet-smelling, reminiscent of jasmine, and make everything smell incredible!
When the coffee bushes are flowering, we cannot do any work in the field because working through the coffee bushes would break the flowers off. So we took advantage of this to go ahead and mend the roof over our drying patio, stretching a new sheet of greenhouse covering very tightly across the eucalyptus beams. As we worked, the Great Kiskadees that nest on the same beams, kept a close eye on us. We took great care to not damage their nest.
